How to Increase Partner Engagement: 5 Steps Your User Engagement Strategy Needs

Apr 2, 2026

The difference between highly engaged partners and minimal marketing participation lies within your brand’s user engagement strategy.

Your local partners should be enabled and empowered to successfully promote your brand — otherwise, they may fall short of your performance expectations.

At The Channel Effect 2026, Ansira’s annual client summit, Laura Cooling Braasch, VP Client Partnership, and Kevin Hill, SVP Local Marketing Activation, hosted a lightning session on how to increase user engagement across your channel partner network.

Their presentation revealed five user engagement strategies that drive optimal partner impact. Here’s a breakdown of each one.

1. Connect actions to revenue

Local partners desire the same outcome as your brand: growth. However, they need different processes to achieve it. That’s why you need to format your brand-to-local marketing platform to better cater to your partners.

It’s vital that your marketing processes are designed to connect actions to revenue. When your partners log in to your platform, they should immediately be met with tools or processes that help them sell. Otherwise, engagement drops.

Dashboard with metrics

For example, if a partner enters your platform and sees items that don’t incite action — such as your brand guidelines or asset library — it won’t be long before they log out. On the other hand, if they see actionable items like available fund amounts, campaign execution features, or lead generation analytics, they’ll feel more motivated to stay, execute, and drive revenue.

2. Campaigns should be always-on, not one-and-done

Most of your partners aren’t natural-born marketers. So, if the next step of a campaign isn’t clear to them, they might not know what to do.

The reality is that signs of low marketing participation, like unused incentives and marketing assets, aren’t motivation programs — they’re communication problems. That’s why you need to introduce nudges that tie revenue to the next best action.

Design simple, automated prompts around money, milestones, and ready-to-run campaigns to direct your partners to the actions they should take next. Be sure to present these steps clearly with visual elements like tiles and banners that they can identify quickly and navigate to in one click.

3. Make processes clear and simple

Your partners go to your marketing platform to execute. But if they have to navigate too many obstacles and complex processes to launch their campaigns, engagement will suffer.

The bottom line is that your partners don’t live in your platform. That’s why clarity and simplicity are key when it comes to your platform’s user experience — because if everything feels important, nothing gets prioritized.

To simplify your platform, start by asking what behaviors drive revenue. Then, narrow them down to the three revenue-generating actions that impact ROI most and aim to improve those first.

For example, if co-op funds are a priority, ask yourself:

  • Are these dollars visible and accessible to users?
  • Are they easy to spend, or do complex claims submissions and approvals stand in the way?

Then, make changes accordingly to drive greater user engagement.

4. Implement partner feedback

Engagement increases when partners feel heard. That’s why it’s important to ask, act, and communicate back. Closing the loop between you and your partners builds trust and, subsequently, user engagement.

Your partners want simpler, more efficient user experiences. So, if a partner asks for fast fund approvals, seek to minimize the number of people involved in the approval process. If they want less friction in campaign execution, consider eliminating duplicative steps. If they want clearer rules, make your brand guidelines easier to understand.

Once you’ve made a change, communicate back to your partner. Let them know you heard their feedback, aligned on the issue, and implemented a solution. Showing that their input directly shaped the outcome reinforces trust and strengthens the relationship.

It’s important to note that you won’t be able to acquiesce to every partner request. In cases where something can’t be changed, be transparent about why. This open communication is key in building trust and closing the loop.

5. Offer ongoing support

User support should be an intentional part of your product, solution, and program. That means making help visible, fast, and human — especially when revenue is at stake.

The support experience is crucial when a partner is stuck in a revenue-impacting moment. Challenges create friction, which kills engagement. If your partners have to hunt for answers or wait for a response, disengagement will set in quickly.

Instead, you can ensure visible and responsive support by establishing clear service-level agreements (SLAs), real-time chat functionality, and responsive email to ensure there’s always a human available to provide assistance.

Assessing your platform for user engagement

To determine whether your current marketing platform is equipped to drive user engagement, ask yourself the following questions:

  • Does it clearly drive revenue?
  • Is communication always-on?
  • Are actions simple?
  • Does partner feedback turn into visible change?
  • Does support feel human and efficient?

If you answered “yes” to all of these questions, then congratulations; your platform is in great shape!

If not, it has room to improve — and you have more opportunities to increase user engagement.

Think about this: If your partners described your platform, would they say it helps them grow, or that it’s just another system they manage? If you answered the latter, it’s time to start implementing these user engagement strategies to create a more impactful experience for your partners.
